Why can't I check out books or other materials from Archives and Special Collections?

Because materials held by Archives and Special Collections are unique, valuable, and/or given to us to preserve for future generations, we cannot lend them for use outside our reading room, as this puts them at risk for loss, accidental damage, and theft.
